Labradoodles are extremely intelligent, friendly dogs that were first breed in Australia, By Wally Conran. Wally worked for Guide Dogs Victoria and was contacted by a blind lady that lived in Hawaii and who suffered from severe allergies and wanted a dog to aid her in everyday activities. That is when Wally Conran through to combine the Lab and the Stander Poodle. They had limited success with their Labradoodles. But there were breeders that had falling in love with them. Labradoodles are very social. They easily accept other dogs and new people. In fact, they welcome newcomers into the pack with delight. Although they may bark when a stranger is near their territory, they will not go beyond that into any type of “attack “mode. As soon as they have a chance to sniff the stranger, that person or animal is welcome. A Labradoodle can’t be counted on to protect the home and family unless the intruder is intimidated by the size and sound of the canine.
Another important fact about Labradoodles is their intelligence. Owners are typically surprised at how responsive their pets are, seemingly capable of knowing what is wanted of them ahead of time. Labradoodles have the tendency to outfox their owner if not trained. Owners MUST TRAIN their dogs! This will bring harmony for both you and your pet.
The last very important factor about labradoodles are that they are NOT “hypo-allergenic” there is not dog that is truly “hypo-allergenic” (means completely non-reactive for allergy sufferers.) Labardoodle are “allergy friendly”. These means that people who suffer from allergies and asthma tend to be more tolerant of them. Doodles are among other dogs that have human like hair. Although even among Labadooodles there is a variation in coats. So it is important to work with your breeder to make sure you get the coat that will work the best for you.
